About

We teach English you can hear

Accentlo was born from a simple belief: it's not about knowing more words. It's about being understood when you say them.

Why accent, not more grammar

Most people study English for years — grammar, vocabulary, tests. Then they step into a real conversation and find the other person asking them to repeat. Not because they ran out of words. Because the sounds didn't land.

English has sounds that many other languages don't have at all — /θ/ in "think", /æ/ in "cat", a schwa in every other word. It has movable stress that changes meaning, and a sentence melody that gives away a non-native speaker faster than any grammar mistake. You don't fix that by "getting used to the sound". You have to train it — consciously, sound by sound.

That's the gap Accentlo fills.

It works both ways

A good accent isn't only about others understanding you. It's also the key to you understanding them. You know the feeling: you're talking with a native English speaker, you know every word they're using — and you still have to ask, "Can you say that again, more slowly?"

That's not your vocabulary's fault. It's connected speech — the way a native speaker talks at natural pace. As we speak, sounds are added, changed and dropped, and words blur into a single stream. A single word you learned on its own no longer sounds the same in a sentence.

The same phrase — two worlds
In the textbook, word by word:
What do you want to do?
From a native speaker's mouth:
"Whaddya wanna do?"

That's why we teach not just individual sounds, but how they really sound in live speech — linked, shortened, blended into a rhythm. Once you learn to speak that way yourself, you suddenly start to hear it too. And asking people to repeat stops being necessary.

Our mission is to help everyone speak English confidently and clearly — with no embarrassment, no asking people to repeat.

What we believe

🎯
01

Practice beats theory

An accent is a motor habit, not knowledge. You can know everything about the /θ/ sound and still not be able to make it. That's why we focus on repetition, recording and real feedback — not lectures.

🔍
02

Specifics, not generalities

"Improve your accent" means nothing. "Your /ɪ/ in ship sounds like /iː/" — that you can fix. We break pronunciation down into individual sounds so you know exactly what to work on.

👂
03

Built around real struggles

We teach with real learners' habits in mind. We know which English sounds cause the most trouble and why — and those are exactly where we start.

💬
04

Being understood, not a "perfect accent"

The goal isn't to sound like a native Brit. The goal is to speak clearly enough to be understood the first time. That's realistic and achievable — for everyone.

How we teach

Our method rests on one principle: one sound at a time, with instant feedback. Instead of fixing everything a little, we guide you step by step.

1

Understand the mechanics

We show you where to place your tongue, what your lips do and whether the sound is voiced. Short and to the point — a minute of theory, the rest is practice.

2

Practise in contrast

You learn through minimal pairs — ship versus sheep, think versus fink. Contrast sharpens your ear and your pronunciation at once, because sounds define each other.

3

Record and get a score

You record yourself, and the system analyses your pronunciation and tells you where you hit the mark and where you didn't. No more practising blind and drilling in mistakes.

4

Repeat until it's second nature

Short, regular sessions cement the motor habit. When the sound comes out automatically in a new word — you move on.

An accent is more than individual sounds

An accent isn't just about phonemes. So alongside sound training we guide you through rhythm and intonation (the melody that gives away a non-native speaker), connected speech (how natives link words as they talk), plus vocabulary through native phrases and short stories — whole expressions in context, not loose words. For the bold, there are also AI conversations, where you practise speaking with no stress and no judging eyes.

Everything in one place, in an order that makes sense.
