From single sounds to an accent people notice
English accent training on Accentlo combines three things you would normally need three different apps for: accent and pronunciation drills, vocabulary in natural context, and real spoken English conversation practice.
Accent, sounds and pronunciation

SpeakReal: a job interview, the pub, the airport, a first date. The AI replies with a real voice, understands you and keeps the conversation flowing — so you practise speaking without pressure.
See conversation practice →Choose your accent: British RP or American GA
You pick which English you want to learn at the start — and the whole platform sticks to that model: the narrator’s voice, the IPA transcription and the AI scoring. No accent mixing, and you can switch at any time.
No “r” sound at the end of words or before consonants — car sounds like caa.
A careful, long /ɑː/ in bath, dance and can’t.
The model of BBC news and of Cambridge coursebooks and exams.
Widely perceived as elegant and clear — you sound confident and professional.
The “r” is always pronounced — car sounds like kaar, water like wadder.
A short /æ/ in bath and dance — different from British English.
The accent you hear every day in American media.
The most widely recognised accent in the world — useful when working with US companies.
Whichever you choose, everything you listen to and practise sounds consistent — one model from your first sound to free conversation.

The 5 key areas of an English accent

Short vs. long, /æ/, schwa, diphthongs
TH, V/W, the English R, word endings
Linking, elision, weak forms
Word stress and sentence stress
Melody, emotion, questions
Hear the difference
Three pillars of a natural accent. Click the speakers and compare the model with how it sounds in real, connected speech.
Sounds
Sounds that are easy to mix up. Listen to the difference — it changes the meaning of the word.
Connected Speech
How natives link words — here, linking /j/: a soft “y” sound slips in between two vowels.
Rhythm & Intonation
Which syllables are strong and which fade away — and whether your voice falls or rises at the end.
Your accent, scored with AI
Stop guessing whether your accent sounds right — AI helps you hear what you actually said and tells you what to work on next.
- ✓ Indicative 1–10 score with a colour ring (+ a separate fluency score for sentences)
- ✓ AI-assisted analysis phoneme by phoneme (words) and word by word (sentences)
- ✓ Transcription: exactly what the AI heard (Whisper)
- ✓ Strengths, likely mistakes and a motivating comment
- ✓ One concrete tip — all feedback in clear, actionable English
The AI score is indicative and meant to support your learning — it is not an exam-grade assessment. Treat it as guidance, best used alongside the model recording.
See what you actually practise on
Real exercises from the Accent module. You listen to the model, record your own pronunciation and compare the sounds — and it all starts with minimal pairs, the foundation of good pronunciation.
Every sentence comes with a model recording and an IPA transcription. The letters responsible for each sound are colour-coded: relaxed /ɪ/ and tense /iː/. You record yourself and hear the difference.
English has two distinct sounds where many languages hear only one. “ship” versus “sheep”, “live” versus “leave” — a single vowel changes the meaning. It is the most common learner mistake worldwide, so this is where training starts.
Columns 1 and 2 are minimal pairs, and column 3 has both sounds inside one word — your mouth has to switch mid-word. Only the letters producing each sound are colour-coded.
The trick to /ɪ/ is a completely relaxed mouth — no smile, no tension, and keep it short. If you tense or stretch your lips, English speakers will hear /iː/ and a different word.
Seven concrete traps and how to fix them — check which ones apply to you.

Speak Real
Ready to test your pronunciation in a real conversation? Speak Real is live speaking practice, independent of the Free or paid plan. You pay only for the time you actually spend speaking — it is not an hourly session. When you’re silent, listening or thinking, the clock doesn’t run.
Good to know
The Free plan includes up to 10 pronunciation checks per day, and paid plans up to 5,000 per month; one check equals one recording analysed by the system. In Speak Real we only count the time you actually spend speaking — you don’t pay for the full length of the conversation or for moments when you’re listening or thinking. The add-on works independently of your plan, so you can use it on both Free and Standard.
